Version 1.2 of the Canary software is now available and can be obtained by clicking the download link in the menu above.

It includes improvements to the interface, new sample projects, updated documentation as well as a new (1.07) version of the Canary Data Converter.

Canary in Applied Clinical Informatics

A new publication describing the Canary NLP software has been published in the Applied Clinical Informatics journal.

The manuscript introduces the software, outlines its role within clinical informatics, and describes some information extraction use case scenarios.

The first public release of Canary, a user-friendly information extraction software, is now available by clicking the download link in the menu above.

Canary is a free, open-source natural language processing software that utilizes a graphic user interface (GUI) to allow users with no computer science background to extract information from large amounts (gigabytes) of narrative data.
